American Red Cross of Montana Founded July 1, 2001
Great Falls, MT - On July 1, 2001 there will be a new statewide Red Cross Chapter. The 13 existing Red Cross Chapters will be merging, July 1, to form the American Red Cross of Montana.
The Red Cross of Montana will be headquartered in Great Falls and have 13 district offices. District offices will be in Billings, Livingston, Butte, Bozeman, Helena, Missoula, Polson, Kalispell, Havre, Glasgow, Glendive, Lewistown and Great Falls. The district office will be responsible for providing Red Cross services to every community in Montana.
Red Cross provides a variety of vital services including local, national and international disaster relief; individual and family emergency preparedness; first aid, CPR and water safety training; emergency services for members of the armed forces and their families; and blood and tissue collection and distribution.
One of the first major tasks facing the new Chapter is to prepare the Red Cross for this summers fire season. Last summer, Red Cross expended more than $1 million dollars in meeting the needs of those affected by the wildfires in Montana.
